A “big day” exploring two authentic treasures of our region.
Your driver will pick you up from the meeting point previously arranged with our staff.
Your first stop will be Herculaneum. We highly recommend to book a professional english speaking guide to enjoy this great place and to skip the line. Dionysius of Halicarnassus attributes the origin of Herculaneum to Hercules, on his way back from Iberia, while according to Strabo the city was first held by the Opicans-Oscans, then by the Etruscans and the Pelasgians and finally by the Sannits.
Encircled by modest walls, Herculaneum was built on a volcanic plateau at the foot of Vesuvius, the city was of modest size. Probably Romans used it to spend there their holidays and this is demonstrated by the fact that most of villas were looking to the sea. When Herculaneum was buried the very high temperature caused carbonization to occur, resulting in an unprecedented manner in the preservation of vegetable matter, food or furnishings.
After this great visit you will meet your driver at the meeting point and your tour continues not the most interesting volcano in Campi Flegrei “La Solfatara”. Extending over an area 33 hectares , this naturalistic oasis offers visitors a number of interesting attractions. In additions to its well known volcanic phenomena, such as fumaroles and mud volcanoes, walkers can enjoy its areas of woodland. During this amazing tour your driver will be at your disposal to let you stop in an authentic and local restaurant to enjoy your lunch. Our tour can be performed by Mercedes luxury car/van or minibus all of them well equipped air conditioning and water at guests disposal.
We always suggest to wear comfortable shoes, hat and a sun cream especially in the summer.
