Campi Flegrei Tour

The tour starts with a pick up from the meeting point previously arranged with our staff. The first stop of this tour is Cuma. 

Cuma is the oldest Greek colony in Europe and this site is located nearby Naples, in Campi Flegrei area. Here it is still possible to admire the Greek walls and ruins of Temple of Apollo, Jupiter and some sepulchers of Greek and Roman citizens. The most important part of Cuma is the famous “Antro della Sibilla”one of the most consulted oracles of the ancient world. It is possible to have access down to the cave: it is a straight tunnel in tuff. It is 5 meters high and 130 long. The legend talks about the Sibyl who was a young woman: Apollo fell in love with her and he offered her to realize every wish of her. The Sibyl asked him to live many years but she forgot to specify “without getting old”. So she became very old and she didn’t want to be seen by anyone. Her body became small and worn until the body disappeared completely and only the voice remained. 

After this mysterious stop you will continue the tour visiting the Serapide’s Temple in Pozzuoli. The temple was a large square shaped yard surrounded by and arcade with three columns. After this visit your driver will let you discover another treasure of the area: Baia Archeological Park, located along the coast of Campi Flegrei. The name baia comes from Baios. He was Ulysse’s helmsman who died and he was buried there by the Greek hero. During this unusual itinerary you will have the chance to stop in one of the greatest pizzeria in Naples and enjoy this wonderful Neapolitan specialty.
